ITMs also make it possible for banks to offer customers a personal connection – even during times of a pandemic.  ITMs allow customers to speak with a teller and have face-to-face interactions without having to enter a crowded lobby or initiate direct contact.  These features are particularly beneficial for branches that have closed lobbies or reduced hours.

What Is An ITM?

An ITM is an Interactive Teller Machine. This revolutionary machine allows you to connect with a Banterra Teller who we refer to as a “Live Teller”, utilizing two-way video during designated hours. A Banterra Live Teller can guide you through any transactions that you would normally do at a branch.  After hours, ITMs also provide 24-hour ATM services.

According to qualitydatasystems.com, ITMs were introduced in the beginning of 2010, with more than 400 installed machines by 2014.  As of 2018, ITMs took up less than 10% of installed ATMs and ITMs.  As of 2021, 25% of banks are currently using ITMs and 60% plan to implement more over the next three years, as stated by believeinbanking.com.

Banterra launched its first ITMs in February 2020, beginning with five locations in Southern Illinois.  Today, we have seven ITMs in Illinois and Kentucky with plans to expand coverage throughout our footprint.  Customers can connect with a Banterra Live Teller Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

What Kind Of Transactions Can I Complete At An ITM?

ITM services include:

  • Deposits - both cash and check
  • Deposit with cash back
  • Check cashing**
  • Loan payments
  • PIN change
  • Denomination selection
  • Withdrawals
  • Balance inquiries
  • Transfers*

Plus, at any time, you can use the ITM as an enhanced 24-hour ATM, with services such as:

  • Withdrawals
  • Transfers*
  • Deposits
  • Check cashing**

- All from the convenience of your vehicle!

*You can initiate transfers as long as your debit card is connected to multiple Banterra accounts.  If that is not the case, our Live Teller can make that transfer and connect your card to your account.

**You can cash a check on your own, but Live Teller approval is needed if the withdraw request is more than $225 per the Funds Availability Policy.
