During her 17.5 years with Banterra, Stefanie Kaytor has grown from a part-time teller into her current role as Learning & Development Coordinator. Along the way, she earned her bachelor’s degree and helped shape Banterra’s Learning & Development department into what it is today. Outside of work, Stefanie enjoys making memories with her husband and son, whether that be in the outdoors or cheering from the sidelines. Read on to learn more about Stefanie’s career journey, family adventures and a few fun facts.

Tell Us About Yourself

I've called Southern Illinois home my entire life. My husband and I have been married for 13 years, and we're the proud parents of our son, Hunter, who is about to turn five. Family is at the center of everything we do, and we love spending as much time together as possible, whether we're hiking local trails, fishing, or simply enjoying the outdoors. We're always looking for ways to stay active and make lasting memories together.

What Is Something About Yourself That Would Surprise Us?

Something that might surprise people is that I love hiking adventure trips with my family. One of my favorite experiences was hiking Colorado's DeCaliBron loop with my husband, where we summited four of the state's iconic 14ers including Mount Democrat, Mount Cameron, Mount Lincoln and Mount Bross. These summits are all over 14,000 feet in elevation and we did all of them in a seven-mile trail of high elevation, steep climbing and miles of rocky terrain. It was an unforgettable experience.

Favorite Travel Spot?

We love the mountains, and one of our favorite travel spots is Estes Park, Colorado. We love visiting  Rocky Mountain National Park.

What Is The First Concert You Attended?

The first concert I attended was Taylor Swift.

What Is Your Favorite Sport?

I don't necessarily have a favorite sport, but there's nothing I enjoy more than cheering on my son in soccer and baseball. I'm excited to watch him learn new skills, build confidence and experience teamwork.

How Have You Grown Personally Or Professionally While Working At Banterra?

My career at Banterra has been one of continuous growth and opportunity. I began my journey in 2009 as a part-time teller and quickly transitioned into a full-time role. I’ve held positions including Financial Services Representative, Assistant Branch Manager and Banking Center Manager. Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to take advantage of the many opportunities Banterra offers, including tuition reimbursement, which allowed me to earn my bachelor’s degree in business administration. My time in retail banking allowed me to develop valuable customer service skills and gain a deeper understanding of our retail operations. As Banterra has grown, I’ve been fortunate to use my knowledge and expertise to help build and establish the standardized training program. Over the past several years, that program has evolved into the Learning & Development department we know today. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities Banterra has provided and for the leaders, mentors and teammates who believed in me, encouraged my growth and helped shape both my personal and professional development.
