At Banterra, we strive to be your financial partner in all aspects of your banking needs, including offering products that fit your unique needs, building strong relationships and providing support in every way we can to help your business succeed. One of the ways that we show that support is through Banterra’s “Meet The Merchant” blog series, which provides insight into the entrepreneurial journey of some of our business customers and then promoted through our marketing channels. This month, we are excited to hear from Jenny Massey, owner of House of CAYA, which is an upscale women’s boutique offering clothing, footwear, jewelry and accessories in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Continue reading to learn how Jenny turned a lifelong passion for fashion and helping women look and feel their best into a dream come true, the role her loyal customers and community have played in her journey, and how Banterra supported her every step of the way.

What Was The Inspiration Or Motivation In Starting Your Business?
Ever since I can remember, this is what I have wanted to do. I have been working towards this goal since college. Helping women look and feel their very best is what I’m passionate about. I have always loved clothing and everything surrounding this industry. I could not imagine myself doing anything else.
Did You Always Dream Of Becoming An Entrepreneur?
Always! As a young girl, I would draw pictures of what I wanted my store to look like when l grew up. House of CAYA really is a dream come true.
How Has Your Business Grown Over The Years?
We just had our one-year anniversary on August 15, 2026, and look forward to celebrating many more years of growth in Cape Girardeau.
What Is One Piece Of Advice You'd Give To Aspiring Entrepreneurs?
Don't let anyone stop you from going for your dreams. It's really tough when obstacles stand in your way. Even when it takes you many years, always know that your passion and drive can overcome anything!
How Does Your Community Play A Role In Your Success?
I am incredibly lucky to have amazing customers who have supported me since the beginning of my retail career and have since become close friends. Their loyalty and support mean the world to me.
How Has Banterra Helped Your Business To Become More Successful?
Banterra was an easy choice for me. I have known Tina Weber, Banterra’s Private Banker in Cape Girardeau, for many years. Tina, Michelle (Senior Branch Manager) and David (Senior Banker) are all amazing people to work with! Banterra walked me through the entire process from the beginning, helping me understand my options and continue to work with me step by step.
Staying Connected With House of CAYA
As House of CAYA celebrates its first anniversary, Jenny is grateful for the customers whose loyalty has helped shape the boutique’s story.
